I began doctoral coursework at Indiana University of Pennsylvania three weeks ago, and I am making small steps toward understanding "the IUP way." My student experience is a bit overwhelming so far, in a good way: lots of reading, and lots of research and writing to come.
One challenge I have encountered so far is that of research inquiry. I have many interests within composition, and I know that over the course of this semester, I will write four papers. But where to start? As a (former) teacher, I am used to thinking of research within a classroom context, and, here, I am without my own class of students to be the impetus for my inquiry.
